Survival of the Windiest
The Empire State Building is Manhattan’s tallest skyscraper. You’d think that a fall from those staggering heights would be an instant death wish. However, one woman survived. Elvita Adams jumped off the Empire State Building on December 2, 1979 and lived. She lived! Apparently, a strong gust of wind carried her back to the 85th floor.
Adams initially jumped off the 86th floor, which makes her wind-swept journey to one floor below all the more miraculous. It’s upsetting when anyone attempts to end their life, so our hope is that Adams saw this miracle as a sign, and received the help she needed from then on. Hopefully, she lived a long life after a clearly divine intervention-like event.
