Stop Putting These Foods In Your Fridge

July 30, 2020 by Elizabeth Grillo

Food can stay fresh in a refrigerator for up to a week or even longer after it has been bought. Even though they are good for a lot of different foods, some should be kept at room temperature instead of in the fridge or freezer. Even fresh fruits and vegetables can be kept at room temperature for much longer periods of time without going bad.

When the temperature goes down, some foods, like onions, start to go bad more quickly. Basil, for example, can’t be kept in a refrigerator because it has oils that can easily evaporate. For example, it’s best to keep ketchup in a place where it doesn’t have to share space with other condiments. With a few simple steps and the right timing, you can keep these foods fresh for as long as possible.

Bread That has been Allowed to Cool Completely is Known As Dry Bread.

Putting bread in the refrigerator is the worst possible thing you can do to it; it will go stale much more quickly. The process known as “retrogradation and recrystallization of starch” begins as soon as the bread is removed from the oven. This causes the starch in the bread to gradually transform back into crystals, which causes the bread to become stiff and stale.

When bread is stored in the refrigerator, it develops a more solid consistency. It’s smart to dry bread before storing it. Up to a week’s worth of it can be preserved by placing it in a bread box or a plastic bag.
