It is not necessary to refrigerate peanut butter; however, doing so will make it easier to remove the food from the container. Jars of peanut butter can be kept in the pantry for up to four months; however, if you want it to last for an additional three or four months, you should keep it in the refrigerator.
It is a waste of time and money to refrigerate peanut butter. Nut butter oils can separate when stored at room temperature; if this occurs, give the jar a gentle stir.
