Rick and Morty Easter Eggs and Unnoticed Details

July 7, 2010 by Molly Reynolds

Wubba-lubba-dub-dub! If you’re a Rick and Morty fan, chances are you’ve combed every episode multiple times for the meticulously planted Easter eggs courtesy of co-creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. If you;ve watched Community, you must be familiar with Harmon’s unique style of writing, which require the viewers to hit the pause button multiple times on each episode, and even better, makes the viewers think. Even if you think you’re perceptive enough and have everything in Rick and Morty figures out, we’re here to tell you otherwise. We’ve got a list of some crucial details you may have missed – so, read on and get schwifty!

Back to the Morty

It’s immensely easy to compare Rick and Morty to Back to the Future. Both boast an older man that goes on sci-fi adventures with someone their junior. While Doc and Marty have the DeLorean, Rick and Morty have the former’s spaceship. However, there’s one significant difference between the two properties.

Rick and Morty never actually travel through time, unlike the Back to the Future duo. Our eponymous pair in Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon’s animated comedy travel to different dimensions and planets, but never to different periods in time. Hence why there’s a box labeled “Time Travel Stuff” in the Smiths’ garage.
