You’re Stronger Than That
Many parents don’t want to accept when their children need medication to help them mentally. Either they don’t want to pay for it, they don’t want their child to get addicted to a drug, or they don’t want to accept that their child actually needs medical help. This caused a negative effect on a girl whose therapist suggested an antidepressant.
Her parents were strongly against their daughter being prescribed an antidepressant to cope with her anxiety and depression and rejected her therapist’s suggestion. She continued to struggle through high school, college, and the beginning of her career. It wasn’t until she was on her own and could make the decision for herself that her life turned around for the better.
