In today’s world, computer science is probably one of the most valuable professions you can major in. Internet technology jobs are high in demand, earn a very decent salary, and can be done anywhere around the world. When his parents were in college, they didn’t even have computers so they were unfamiliar with the computer science path. 

He did his own research, went against his parents wishes, majored in computer science, got an excellent and well paid job out of college that allowed him to live on his own immediately, and he eventually achieved his dreams of living abroad without struggling to look for work. Turns out our parents don’t know everything.
