Didn’t your mama ever teach you not to stare? It’s rude! This mother believed that when it came to all mammals, not just humans. She told her son that if he made contact with an animal, it would kill him! That’s impossible since they’re usually behind glass, so why would she try to scare him like that?

Her son grew up extremely interested in zoology and eventually learned that eye contact actually puts an animal at ease. He had resentment towards his mother, insisting that she was trying to ruin his fun at the zoo when he was a young boy. She swore that was what she actually believed.
