A Common Belief
Other than feeling bloated, nothing terrible will actually happen to you if you go swimming right after you eat. However, a common myth that almost all kids have been told by their parents is that you have to wait 30 minutes after eating before you go swimming or else you’ll get cramps.

These parents took the myth to the next level by telling their kids that the cramps will cause them to drown. The parents must know this to be untrue but for some reason, they really didn’t want their kids to go swimming after eating. As the kids grew up, they figured out that at least the drowning part was erroneous.
