Looking Like a “Hoodlum”
Have you ever been told by your parents to correct something about your appearance because “you look like a hoodlum”? When we were younger, tattoos and piercings were not as accepted as they are today. But even so, most professions still go against candidates who have lots of tattoos and facial piercings.

If your parents suggest you tone it down so it can be easier to get a job, that’s one thing, but instilling the belief that you’re a problem to society due to how you wear your hair, choose to dress, etc. then what they are really doing is discouraging self-expression, something that becomes important to us as we grow.
