#29 – Sasha Velour
This dragtastic performer was a queen of all trades before finally landing in the drag scene. She worked as a security guard, a freelancer doing graphic design and illustration, and headed the production team for Toon Books, a children’s book publisher. After embracing drag as a full-time gig, she applied twice to Drag Race, finally winning a slot on Season 9 and taking the crown.
Since then, she’s taken the drag scene in an artsy direction and applied her experience to showcasing fellow artists in NightGowns, touring several notable cities, and creating a one-woman show called Smoke & Mirrors that ran in 2019 and early 2020, which is currently on hold due to the events of the past year.
