That’s Really Not Necessary
White flags have been the go-to to tell your enemy you’ve had enough and want to surrender for as long as we can remember. The practice has been documented as far back as the Second Battle of Cremona in 69 A.D. All that was needed was to wave a white flag. Nobody was losing their eyeballs over it.
Dido also kept her pretty peepers in her breakup song “White Flag.” The songstress softly sings, “And I won’t put my hands up and surrender,” rather than, “I will poke out my eyes and surrender.” Hopefully, u/Playful_Trade_2172 hadn’t heard the gruesome mondegreen as a kid because it’s enough to give anyone nightmares.
