17. This Show Had Five Different Names
We like the name Friends. It’s easy to remember because it’s only one word, and it’s relatable because we all have friends. It’s also brilliant marketing because it’s a common word that conjures up images of the TV show even when we aren’t talking about it. However, “Friends” wasn’t the first pick. It was the last.

The sitcom was initially named Insomnia Café, which sounds more like an adult version of Are you Afraid of the Dark? where The Midnight Society meets up in a Starbucks. The show went through a few identity crises and was titled Across the Hall and Friends Like Us. There was also the confusing mouthful: Insomnia Café: Six of One.
