Ex-Burglars Spill Their Tricks and Share Tips on Avoiding Burglaries

March 24, 2015 by Veronica Phillips

Burglars are in and out in 15 minutes

This guy had an extensive history of burglary during his youth. He shared a pool of helpful tips that homeowners should check out. The most important takeaway from their post is that they’re in and out in 15 minutes. That gives them enough time to go through multiple rooms and check out all kinds of hiding spots.

Another key takeaway is that if the person needed more than a minute to break into a safe or open a trap door, they’d skip over that hiding spot and look elsewhere. We can use this by asking a friend to try to open or remove a safe in under 60 seconds. If they can’t, you’re on the right track.
