Sometimes the secrets our parents hide from us aren’t buried deep in hushed conversations between the few that know the truth. Like when we lie by omission, you know, carelessly “forgetting” to mention a crucial detail here and there. Secrets can be the same way when it seems there’s no appropriate way to reveal them.
It doesn’t matter whether your parents sat you down on the sofa one day and laid it all out after a heavy sigh or let it slip while scarfing down chicken tenders at a TGI Friday’s. There’s no easy way to tell your kids you were on the cover of a naughty magazine without sending them into shock.
