Illiterate Inmates
The number of illiterate inmates is a pretty staggering figure. It’s like we’re setting people up for failure before they even get started. How are they supposed to get a job or make a living if they can’t even read a job application or a paycheck? Some might argue that they should have learned to read before getting in trouble.

But it’s not that simple. Some people slip through the cracks or don’t have access to quality education. It’s like we’re punishing them twice – once for their crime and again for their lack of education. Maybe it’s time we start investing in programs that help inmates learn to read and get their lives back on track.
