#28: Wasting Food
Americans are not known for our modest portion sizes, but 40% seems excessive. It’s like we’re taking all the resources that go into producing food—the land, the water, the energy—and just tossing them in the trash. Dumping food in the trash is not just a waste of resources.

It’s also a huge waste of money too. I don’t know about you, but I’m on a budget and can’t afford to throw away perfectly good food. Maybe it’s time we all start thinking about reducing our food waste and stretching our grocery budgets a little further to prevent major waste.
