A serious situation confronted them.
During the course of the operation, all 9,000 tortoises were retrieved without incident. It was true for some of them, but not all of them. A total of 1,000 persons died as a result of the sickness, out of a total population of 9000. Only 8,000 people were still alive. They were, on the other hand, not in the best of shape. These animals were left hungry and scarred for the rest of their lives as a result of this tragedy.
There was no way of knowing how many tortoises would live, and there was also the question of where to put all of them. The fact of the matter was that they didn’t want these tortoises to suffer the same destiny as they had before.
