Mixed Signals
This shirt tried. It really did, but it still missed the mark. The graphic designer chose dark cursive-styled lettering for “Don’t worry,” along with lines connecting the two segments to show that they go together. However, encapsulating the blocky white “Be happy” within the square muddled the message despite the contrasting font types.
The overall message is positive and uplifting, but now we just feel like this shirt is wishing anxiety upon us as if we didn’t have enough to worry about before attempting to read it all correctly. Looking more closely, we also spot a lace-up tie in the back, which is awkward, to say the least. We’ll keep this shirt for housecleaning.
