Tattle Tale Messengers
When we’re sucked into the eye of an emotional hurricane, writing out our feelings can help us avoid saying things we can’t take back, but it doesn’t completely save us from our impulsivity. Enter the unsend function of today’s social media messengers, which were meant to protect us from our electronic outbursts.
The unsend function allows us to delete previously sent messages, so they no longer appear in the chat logs of everyone involved. Still, they unintentionally cause more drama by marking the messages as being unsent, cueing recipients to interrogate us over what we deleted. This should teach us to take a deep breath before thumbing away on our phones.
