Mary Lincoln Receives A Visitor
Ok, this one is for the true history lovers. This might be a silly example of a fake photograph, but as it turns out, it really scared people back in 1870. In this photograph, you can see former first lady Mary Lincoln, being visited by her late husband Abraham.

The photo was taken by William Mumler, who was an engraver who lived in Boston. Apparently, this photo caused quite a scandal, and Mumler was called a faker both by the spiritualist community, and the doubters. For years people have tried to expose his methods but none could, leaving the option that this photo was in fact real.
