The subway as microcosm
While the subway, and public transportation in general, may be seen as a microcosm of society, it may also be considered a microcosmic reflection. All of the problems that occur aboveground are magnified and exacerbated below ground.

One of the most important aspects of this problem is that it highlights the fact that there aren’t many women in politics. Men versus women, young versus old, rich versus poor – all fights for precious real estate – demonstrates how everyone isn’t as equal as everyone thinks. Next time you’re on the subway, take a look at the people next to you. They’re all engaged in a struggle.
