Super Bowl Commercials So Good We Didn’t Need a Skip Button

January 18, 2012 by Jade Parker

She Had Us Screaming for a Creaming

While Old Spice targeted women with muscles, diamonds, and romance, Noxzema went after the men of the 70s with their 1974 ad featuring future Charlie’s Angel Farrah Fawcett and football great Joe Namath. This commercial didn’t need special effects or cinematic shots, and the jingle was a nine-word sentence.

The success hinged all on Farrah’s sweet singing and gentle touch as she slathered an ecstatic Joe in shaving cream. Even though the pair played roles in a commercial, they didn’t look like their agents forced them into it. Their chemistry translated into sales for Noxzema, and the popular shaving cream now sells for $30-$150 a pop online after being discontinued in the US market.
