The Biggest Super Bowl Bop
Coca-Cola had their “Hilltop” kumbaya moment, but Pepsi had us ripping sound bites and rushing to 7-11 for free posters when they teamed up with the Princess of Pop Britney Spears for their 2001 Super Bowl commercial. Most Super Bowl commercials are a mere 30 seconds, but Britney’s mini music video was two minutes of pure pop gold.
“The Joy of Pepsi” campaign spawned a slew of merch, including posters, soda cans, souvenir cups, dolls, and even toy trucks with her face next to the Pepsi logo. There’s also a 5-track album featuring the song, which is now a rare find for die-hard Britney collectors who can’t get enough of the promotional hit.
