Respect the Queue
Here’s something that we Americans and Swedes have in common: respecting the queue. Whatever you’re queueing for—from renewing your driver’s license to getting a Blizzard at Dairy Queen—cutsies not allowed. If there’s a queue, you wait your turn like everyone else.
To help with queues, many Swedish companies have queueing ticket systems, where people get a number that indicates what position they are in line. However, after you grab your ticket, you’re not supposed to turn to the person next to you and chat them up. Always remember that small talk isn’t a thing in Sweden, and you’ll be marked a social outcast for attempting it.
