Punctuality Is a Virtue
Some people will intentionally arrive fashionably late to parties or events. That’s the kind of non-sensical behavior that Swedes will not tolerate. If you say you’ll be here at 8 AM, people will expect you to arrive at 8 AM on the dot. A second later and your entire reputation is at stake.
It doesn’t matter what appointment it is—you could be meeting with a doctor, a dentist, a potential babysitter—you are not allowed to be later. So, before you arrive in Sweden, make sure your watch is set to the correct time. You might want to set up multiple alarms 60, 30, and 15 minutes before your appointment, just to be safe.
