9 to 5 on the Dot
In the United States, 5 PM is closing time for many businesses. However, that’s only when customers are told to get lost; the employees could be stuck at the office for several more hours after all of the customers have been kicked out the door. That’s a pretty sad life.
They don’t do that in Sweden. When it’s 5 PM, everyone drops what they’re doing and goes home. Any leftover work they have, which is incredibly rare due to their punctuality, can wait until the next day. What’s even more amazing is that they have one-hour lunchbreaks taken at any time from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
