The Love for McDonald’s
Swedes aren’t known for being a bit wide around the hips, which is strange considering that there are so many McDonald’s restaurants around the country. Sweden has a population of 10.35 million, while there are 191 McDonald’s stores across the country. That means every McDonald’s restaurant caters to 54,000 people on average.

However, if you look at the numbers, you’ll find that Sweden has an overweight and obesity rate of over 50% among adults. The US, on the other hand, is slightly lower at 42.5%. And that’s after considering the higher McDonald’s restaurant per capita figure (about 24,00 people per McDonald’s).
