The Love of Semlor
Semlor, which is plural for semla, is a Swedish cake. It’s a type of bread that’s filled with almond paste and topped with a generous amounts of whipped cream before having sweet powdered sugar sprinkled all over it. We’re not Swedes, but we see ourselves enjoying Semlor as much as them!
Every year, the entire nation consumes over 20 million semlor. That’s a rough average of about two semlor for every person in the country, which means that we could actually boost the national average if we moved there. If you’re not moving to Sweden for long-term friendships, at least move there for the delicious pastries and mandated fika!
