Equality of Speech
In the United States, it’s usually the best man, the groom, or the father of the bride who delivers speeches during weddings. If you haven’t noticed, they’re all males. This patriarchal practice sounds outdated, but tradition is tradition. Women generally aren’t allowed to click their champagne glasses to deliver a speech.
But that’s not the case in Sweden. Whoever you are, whether you’re the bride’s sister, the mother of the groom, or the aunt that nobody has seen before the wedding, you’re more than welcome to snatch the mic and drop a freestyle deliver a beautiful speech.
