#36: Well, That’s Awkward
Sometimes, adults need to resort to drastic measures to get through to a kid. Nobody likes playing the role of the bad cop, yet when you’re backed into a corner, you sometimes feel like it’s your only option. Making an example out of a student probably feels awful for a teacher, but it’s pretty understandable when they’ve tried everything else.
But what happens when your attempt at public shaming backfires? As any good teacher will tell you, you improvise! This teacher didn’t miss a beat and pretended the student’s mom was on the phone anyhow. It doesn’t matter that the student knew the truth because the rest of the class was mortified on his behalf. So, in a way, this was a win for the teacher.
