Law and Order
This is the kind of situation where the less they know is better. We’re not saying we’re encouraging white lies, or lies lies of any kind, but sometimes, there is such a thing as “too much honesty.” As this landlord was showing the house to new potential tenants, he was surprised to find stains on the carpet. When he asked his current tenant about it, his answer was even more surprising.
The tenant thought he was referring to another kind of stains all together – the kind they usually find using a blacklight in crime scenes on Law and Order. Sometimes it’s better to just say “yes, sir,” and not provide any further information. The good news is that the landlord would get new carpets for the apartment, the bad news is that the tenant wouldn’t see his deposit.
