Overheard at Thanksgiving Dinner: People Share Amusing and Insightful Thanksgiving Tweets

November 7, 2010 by Alison Campbell

Give Them What They Want

Sweatpants Cher is sharing the reality of motherhood during Thanksgiving. Children aren’t impressed by a beautiful table setting, delicately roasted turkey, and an expensive wine at Thanksgiving dinner. All they care about is eating their favorite foods. If the food doesn’t meet their culinary tastes, they WILL let everyone know.

This mom already knows her kids inside and out. She knows that they would much rather eat simple foods like mac n cheese, goldfish crackers, and apple juice. She’s probably been tempted more times than once to serve platters of mac n cheese and apple juice for Thanksgiving just to avoid tantrums and meltdowns.
