Practise Doesn’t Make Perfect
“Practise” is one of those words that even some writers have to use a quick Google search to confirm they’re using right because the word can be spelled with either an s or a c, and nobody could agree on which one should have been used on this cautionary sign.
In American English, there’s only one option: “practice.” It’s always a “c” regardless of its status as a noun or verb. In other English variants, “s” is used for the verb, while “c” is used for the noun, for example, “a doctor’s practice.” Grammarly has reported that some Canadians are now using the C-version for both nouns and verbs. So, who is really right here?
