Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town (1970)
An hour-long stop-motion Christmas special, Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town was created by Rankin/Bass and first aired on ABC on December 13, 1970. Fred Astaire plays the narrator, S. D. Kluger, and Mickey Rooney is Kluger. The origins of Santa Claus and several other well-known Christmas traditions are explained in this heartwarming movie. It’s based off of Eddie Cantor’s 1934 rendition of the same-named Christmas song.
