The statistics on this map prove that there is truth to some stereotypes, as Russians evidently enjoy drinking the most. 

When we think of alcohol and Russia together, vodka comes to mind and it’s believed that Russians drink this distilled alcoholic beverage like water. Vodka has a significant history in Russia. It became the most popular drink due to its low cost and efficiency, it was used to help disinfect wounds, and became a remedy against the cold weather.
