During the seventies and the eighties, actress Ellen Burstyn was known not only for her successful acting career, but for avid support in different charity and social causes. During the seventies, the rising star was active in the battle to free boxer Rubin “Hurricane” Carter from jail, which received significant media attention.
Some of her most memorable roles include The Last Picture Show (1971), The Exorcist (1973) and Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (1975). Burstyn is among the few actors to have won the Triple Crown of Acting – a title that refers to performance who’ve won an Academy Award, an Emmy Award and a Tony Award.
