Dolly Parton then
Country-music legend Dolly Parton came to prominence in the late sixties, with the release of her first solo album, Hello, I’m Dolly. She started her way in the music industry writing songs for other artists. In 1964, Parton moved to Nashville to pursue a career in the music industry, and has made a name for herself as a songwriter.
Her first album, released in 1967, was a success and put her on the map as the new face of country music. One of her biggest hits at the time, which remains a hit to this day, was the song “Jolene” – written and performed by her in 1973. During the late seventies, the singer had transitioned to pop music and received great success in that genre as well.
