Dumb or Distracted?
We’ve already established that Americans are obsessed with the month, day, year format and almost always forget that the rest of the world begins with the day, then the month and year, especially when it comes to the way we write. It’s just natural for us to enter the month first on an online form.
Was this person distracted, or were they genuinely this clueless? They entered the date as the fifth day of the 16th month rather than double-checking the input labels, which clearly ask for the day, month, and year, then they rage-posted on Reddit about how their answer was unacceptable. We advise them to take a deep breath and fill out the form again. Besides, what would we call the 16th month?
