Ah, the perils of being mistaken for a local when traveling in a foreign country. It’s a situation that we’ve all been in at one time or another, and let me tell you, it can be both flattering and frustrating at the same time. If you’re not careful, you might find yourself invited to a family dinner, depending on who you talk to.
But let’s look at this for what it is. If you’re traveling in a foreign country, it is not the entire population’s job to accommodate you and try to speak your language. There’s also absolutely nothing weird about someone approaching you and speaking the language of the country you’re in.
