Earthrise, 1968
“Earthrise” is the name of this famous photograph of earth, taken by astronaut William Anders. In 1968, the Apollo 8 spacecraft made history as the first spacecraft to reach the moon. The mission’s crew, Frank Borman, Jim Lovell, and Bill Anders, spotted this sight from the spacecraft – their home planet.
Anders took the photo, that was later referred to as the most influential environmental photograph ever taken. Evidently, it was Borman who spotted the beautiful sight and hurried to take a picture, only he couldn’t find the color camera, so he snapped a black-and-white photo. Andres took the first colored photograph.
