The Pillow Fight, 1964
This photo of the Beatles might not be as iconic as their Abbey Road cover art, but it’s one of their best photos. This photo was taken by photojournalist Harry Benson in 1964, right before the band’s breakthrough. They had already gained popularity by that time, but this was before their bug breakthrough as revolutionary artists, and Benson was reluctant to spend his precious time on them.
However, he was sent on a job to accompany the band on their trip to Paris, and he ended up taking one of their best photos of all time. The following week, the British band traveled to the U.S. for the first time, and Benson went along to document the historic trip, the one that skyrocketed their career worldwide.
