Fiorucci Dancers at Studio 54, 1977
We’ve already discussed some of the A-listers that frequented studio 54, but we didn’t begin to cover its cultural significance in the country. Studio 54 was shaped by the artists, models and actors that visited the nightclub, but in a large part, the club shaped its visitors and New York City’s nightlife. Studio 54 didn’t operate for a long time as a nightclub, but during the late seventies, it was the place to be.
Fiorucci is an Italian fashion label that was founded in the late sixties, and by the time Studio 54 reopened its gates as a nightclub, in 1977, Fiorucci has made its way to the United States. The biggest names in the fashion industry fell in love with the Italian brand, and it was only natural that it would find its way to NYC’s hottest nightclub at the time, Studio 54. This collaboration was natural, as the spirit of the club was largely defined by fashion.
