Creature of the Night
Owls are rather mysterious creatures; they’re nocturnal creatures, they can rotate their heads 270 degrees and they are often depicted in horror films and Gothic literature. It seems like there’s a lot we don’t know about owls, and perhaps that’s part of what makes them so mysterious and intriguing.
For example, we only now learned they have such long, lean legs. Owls often have their legs hidden underneath their plumage, and unless you’re a bird enthusiast, you probably aren’t familiar with the different types of owls, but only the ones we usually see on television. Their exceptionally long legs, hidden under their feathers, is what allow them to hunt for prey during the night.
