Honorable Mention #6: Taco John’s
When Taco John’s was founded in 1969, the owners set out on a quest to make the fast food joint the go-to stop for “West-Mex” food, a play on traditional Mexican dining. Since, it has opened over 400 locations in the Midwest and mountain states.
But while customers are usually impressed by their signature Potatoes Oles dish, the rest of the menu left Consumer Report survey participants wanting more. Only 41% of participants said that they would return to a Taco John’s after trying their food. And it’s not just this survey. Online, the restaurants have been reviewed as “absolutely appalling,” with one writing “unreal. Never seen anything this bad”. This much bad reviews can close an empire down if not treated quickly and correctly.
