#16: A True Hero
Any time I see a kid near the road, I go on high alert. Sure, by 7 or 8, they know to look both ways, but they haven’t quite honed the skills of listening for cars that might not be in view yet. I’m not suggesting that a kid that age can’t cross the street alone, but I still keep an eye out, just in case. I’m glad I’m not the only one!

Hopefully, this kid learned to always take an extra moment before stepping out. Drivers often don’t see people, especially kids, and I doubt this happened at a crosswalk. I wait until the crosswalk light blinks and all cars are at a complete stop before putting my foot out there. You never know what kind of people are on the road.
