Tips to Keep Your House Clean with Pets

July 26, 2019 by MamaBee

We all love our pets. However, they are quite a mess. Cleaning your home is already a daunting task, and it gets worse when you have a pet. But, you can still keep your home clean while still having the pets you love so much. Here are some tips to keep your home clean with pets.

Tips to Keep Your House Clean with Pets

Keep Your Pets Clean

Give your pet regular baths to keep them clean. Most importantly, your home will smell fresh. Pets will get dust and mud, especially if they go outside. Have pet shampoo so that you can give your pet a perfect bath. A clean dog will prevent your home from stinking.

Groom Your Pet Regularly

Grooming your pet frequently can help you keep your home clean. Brush your dog severally to get rid of all loose pet fur. When the weather is favorable, brush your dog outside to minimize the furry mess inside your house. Some pets will require trimming their fur or de-shedding it. This will help reduce the amount of pet hair in your home. Also, keep the pets’ nails trimmed. This will avoid nail damage in your house, for example, tarnished hardwood floors and scratched couches.

Manage Pet Hairs

You will all agree with me that pet hair is one of the greatest challenges pet owners face in their houses. It is all over the couch, your clothes, furniture, on the floor, and your carpet. For your home to stay clean, you need to manage pet hair. Have an old towel and place it on a spot your pet likes to rest. Shake the towel outside daily to get rid of any pet hair.

Vacuum Your House Frequently

Your pet will always rest on your couch, furniture, and on the carpet. All these places will get pet hair. You, therefore, need quality vacuum cleaners to get rid of all pet fur, dust, and other debris brought in the house by the pet. To get every hair out, use a rubber rake on your carpet. If your clothes have pet hair, consider using a tape roller to get rid of it.

Freshen Your Home Regularly

All pets have an odor. Refreshing your home often will keep away that cat or dog odor. While dusting your soft furnishings, consider using baking soda. It can work wonders as it neutralizes the odors. Also, have enough supply of air fresheners in your home. However, remember that cleaning your pet is the number one way to prevent that bad odor in your home.

Clutter Control

If your dog has a lot of toys, you need to organize the house clutter so that your home can look clean and neat.  By organizing the pet area, your home will look organized and clean. If your pet has toys that it does not play with much, you can store them in your garage so that your home is well organized.

Clean Your Pet’s Items Often

Preventive cleaning is always good. Don’t wait for your pet’s items to get too dirty. Clean their toys, dishes, and their bed regularly. If the items go for long without being cleaned, they will pick up a strong pet odor that will make your home stink.

Work on Stains Quickly

The quicker you can get rid of a pet stain, the better. Pet urine can damage your carpet permanently or leave a persistent odor. Clean, fresh stains with clean water and a white cloth. For solid residue, you can use a blunt object to get rid of it.

Invest In Quality And Durable Materials

You don’t want your carpet to get all scraped up and your couch looking like a mess. Do you? It is good to invest in quality décor made with durable materials. Your rags should also not be torn easily. In delicate areas like your living room, use stain-resistant fabrics. These will be easier to clean and keep your home looking fresh.

You also need to upgrade your couch if it is made up of material that attracts hair, takes in undesirable odors, and shows the slightest stains. A tightly woven material for your sofa or a leather one would be a perfect choice. Alternatively, you can add a cover on your couch, which can easily get cleaned when need be.

Clean Your Pet Paws

Get a habit of cleaning your pet’s paws once you are out from a walk. Your carpet, walls, furniture, couches, and blankets can get muddy in seconds if you don’t wash your pet’s paws. Have a towel near the door to wipe your pet’s paws before it enters the house. This will help cut down the amount of dirt brought in the house by your pet.

Final Note

No matter how messy pets can be, they are still our great buddies. You can always keep your house clean and still have your favorite pets. These tips will help you keep your home spotless and super clean.
