Too Soft
If you didn’t know already, James wanted to keep Titanic as realistic as possible by avoiding CGI as much as he could. This means that a lot of what you saw on screen were real props made by the hands of expert crafters. Even a capstan, the rotating cylinder made of metal to wind ropes, was made for the movie.
By made, we mean the production team purchased a large piece of Styrofoam in the shape of a capstan. You can tell it’s not made of metal when the Titanic breaks in half and a passenger collides into the object. It’d take a lot more than human flesh to warp metal like that.
