Apart from splicing different shots together, James was also caught red-handed horizontally flipping certain shots. This was done in order to make it appear that the boat was always traveling in the correct direction. A crude solution, but it worked, to a certain extent.
The problem was that the film’s editors couldn’t just move everything to the correct spot after flipping the shot. Here’s an example: Rose has a beauty mark on the right side of her face. However, in other scenes, we can see the beauty mark on the other side of her face. Unless the makeup artists made a mistake, we gotta chalk this one down to a messed-up shot-flipping job.
