Hard as Hail
We’re all familiar with the phrase “hard as hell” and most of you have probably used it at one point or another. Well, get ready to have your mind blown: apparently, the expression doesn’t actually say “hard as hell”, but “hard as hail”. It makes sense, in a way, because hail is hard – but also we would imagine that hell is pretty bad!
Also, this brings up some questions: when people say “hot as hell” should they be saying “hot as hail”? That doesn’t make any sense because hail is cold – and hell is supposedly hot, since, you know, it’s burning and everything. Although a quick Google search confirms that the original expression says “hail”, we might stick to the “hell” version. It has a better ring to it.
