An Age-Old Debate
We’re going to put an end to this age-old debate: is Winnie the Pooh a boy or a girl? We’re all familiar with the friendly bear who’s obsessed with honey; the AA Milne books were an inseparable part of our childhood. However, some people seem to believe that the beloved bear is a girl – and they’re spreading this false information online.

We’re here to put an end to the debate – is Winnie the Pooh a boy or a girl? The amicable bear in the AA Milne books is a boy. There’s no question about that – he’s referred to in the books as a “he.” However, there’s a simple and reasonable explanation for the confusion: Winnie’s name was inspired by a real-life bear named Winnie, a female bear which AA Milne and his son Christopher enjoyed visiting at the London Zoo.
